Privacy policy

What we collect, why we collect it, and how to have it removed.

This policy explains how His Children Foundation South Africa NPC(“we”) handles personal information, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

What we collect

When you donate. Your name, email address, phone number, and — where you ask for a Section 18A tax certificate — your identity or income tax number, or your company name, registration number and VAT number. We also record the amount, date and reference of your donation, and any proof of payment you upload.

When you contact us. Your name and email address, and whatever you put in your message.

When you subscribe to the monthly needs list. Your email address.

When you browse. Nothing we collect ourselves. This site runs no analytics and sets no cookies. As with any website, the server hosting it keeps standard access logs.

Why we collect it

Donor details are collected because SARS requires specific information on a Section 18A certificate, and because we are obliged to report donations on our IT3(d) submission. Contact details are used to answer you and to send you the monthly needs list if you asked for it. We do not sell your information to anyone, ever, and we do not share it except where the law requires.

Where it is stored

Donation and certificate records are held in Hopely, the Section 18A certificate platform we use, on infrastructure secured against unauthorised access. Records required for tax purposes are kept for five years, as SARS requires. Anything not required for tax purposes is deleted on request.

Marketing consent

We only send you the monthly needs list if you asked us to. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can withdraw consent at any time by replying to any message or writing to admin@hischildrenfoundationsa.org.za.

Your rights

You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Where a record is required for a tax certificate we have already issued, we may be obliged to keep it — we will tell you if that is the case, and why.

To make any of these requests, or to complain about how we have handled your information, contact us at admin@hischildrenfoundationsa.org.za or +27 83 235 9165. You also have the right to complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update this page. Material changes affecting how we use information you have already given us will be communicated to you directly.
